Brian Evenson delivers three flavors of gruesome.

See what I mean?  I’m confused/interested/excited/worried.  I promise you, I didn’t whip that up in Photoshop.  Doubtless there will be blood.  Yours in October.

In less surprising news, Evenson has another book coming out that is not tied to the franchise:

Profoundly unsettling and intensely original, Last Days is a down-the-rabbit-hole detective novel set in an underground cult of self-mutilators. The story follows Kline, a brutally dismembered detective forcibly recruited to solve a murder inside the cult. As Kline becomes involved with the cult, he begins to realize more is at stake than he previously thought. Attempting to make his way through a maze of lies, threats, and misinformation, Kline discovers that his survival depends on an act of sheer will.

I’ll report more on it as soon as I can get my hands on a copy.  It’s coming out through Underland Press in February, but no pre-order available yet from Powell’s, so get yourself a copy of The Open Curtain to see why all the fuss, and also here’s an interview with him from a while back.

Also: short stories, coming next year from Coffee House Press.  Hurrah for the future!
